In 2007 I was a student at Memphis College of Art in Memphis, TN. I enrolled in my first sculpture class, Ceramics 101. By the end of that semester, I changed my major from graphic design and enveloped myself in ceramic work. I graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture and a minor in Art History.

I have an obsession with nostalgia. There is an art to hunting down the exact pieces you remember from your childhood. Searching antique stores has always brought me a sense of wonder, exploration and adventure that inspired me as a child.

I wanted to share my finds and treasures with others. In 2021, I was afforded the luxury to build out my own studio in my home. I began collecting and rescuing antique ceramic casting molds. They were being thrown out by the sons and daughters of ceramicists all over the country. I had a sense of purpose to continue producing these pieces for new generations to enjoy.

I think it is important to preserve the past but also enjoy them in relation to the modern world around us. My process reflects the ears before industrialization, when pieces were hand-made and one of a kind. Mass production has cheapened functional pieces we use every day in our homes, like our plates, bowls, and cups. My pieces are intended to be used daily and taken care of. They could be heirlooms. They are not made to be thrown away and replaced without a second thought.
